Lecturer drags school to court over alleged unlawful termination of appointment

A lecturer at Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Mr Ayobami Lawal has reportedly taken the management of the institution to court for allegedly terminating his appointment unlawfully.
In the suit filed on his behalf by his counsel, Mr Adenle Adetoye, Lawal, a former Dean of Department of Mass Communication is seeking a declaration that the termination of his appointment was unjust and unlawful.

According to NAN, the plaintiff claimed he was unlawfully disengaged on January 11, 2016, while serving as the dean adding that the school's claim for his lay off was because he did not develop himself academically.

Lawal also alleged that it was a ruse to get rid of him because he was an independent-minded person.

The plaintiff claimed that he was employed in the school with HND and a Masters of Communication Arts from the University of Ibadan.

However, Justice Opeloye Ogunbowale of the National Industrial Court, Ibadan Division, has on Thursday, October 31, 2018, adjourned the hearing of the suit until Tuesday, December 11, 2018.
