Few Weeks ago,the management of the University of Ibadan, released the original tuition fee receipt for the session, and instructed every student to make sure they print a copy and sign it at their various Faculty finance offices. The original tuition fee receipt listed few of what the school fees paid by the students covered, and students were quick to notice some unusual levies that were included in the original tuition receipt. The students, as part of their tuition are to pay 200 naira for the SUG levy, this came as a surprise to the students, considering the fact that the Student Union Government have been suspended by the school management. This however points to the question that, what is this particular money paid for?
Another unusual additional fee that the students noticed, was the payment for the "Oju Rere CD" which amounted to 200 naira. This fee particularly amazed the students, because they have not been given any CD by the school management and claim not to need one.
The Original tuition receipt also indicated that the students were charged for the Faculty Prospectus, which as they claimed was never given to them.
A 100 level student of the University, who pleaded anonymity claimed that "the original tuition fee receipt indicated that every fee were channeled at extorting the students of this institution and now we don't even have a Student Union Government to fight for this"
The management have therefore been advised by the students to reinstate the student Union Government or stop charging them for a Union that have been suspended.
