Are churches a stumbling block to tertiary education for the masses?

Perhaps, quite a number of people, both students and guardians are scared to speak out against the ever increasing price of tuition in Nigerian private Universities, one question that comes to mind is, "are churches a stumbling block to tertiary education for the masses?".

Many students generally believe that the resources used in the building of many christian private universities revolve around tithes and offerings gathered in the church, yet, many members of the same church are unable to send their wards to study in the church's private university.

Here are some of the perceived tuition costs from some christian private universities per semester.

  • BOWEN UNIVERSITY N650,000 per semester,
  • COVENANT UNIVERSITY N640,000 per semester,
  • BENSON IDAHOSA N500,000 per semester,
  • BABCOCK UNIVERSITY N450,000 per semester,
  • REDEEMERS UNIVERSITY N450,000 per semester,
  • AJAYI CROWTHER UNIVERSITY N350,000 per semester,
  • MADONNA UNIVERSITY N350,000 per semester.
