Management of Federal University of Technology, Minna, has disclosed that it plans to build 8 blocks of female hostels in the school.
According to reports, this is aimed at tackling accommodation issue in the institution. Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Musbau Adewumi Akanji, has reportedly handed over the construction to three construction companies.
Akanji listed accommodation as one of the major challenges being faced by the university, lamenting that as a result of this, majority of the students live off campus and are exploited by landlords.
He believed that once this project is completed, more students can start living on campus.
Akanji added that he hopes the construction would be completed by the end of the 2015/2016 academic session.
