A final year student at the Institute of Management Technology (IMT), Enugu, has miraculously escaped death in a cultist attack that happened on Monday. It was gathered that a three-man-gang, suspected to be cultists, attacked the victim in a classroom.
Reports say the victim, a final year Mechanical Engineering student, was isolated and pushed to the floor by the hoodlums.
According to a student who witnessed the attack told The Nation that one of the attackers tried to shoot him in the head, but the gun failed to fire. So they beat him up with dangerous weapons while the one with the gun attempted to reload.
“When he was done, he made another attempt to shoot at the victim, who was now bleeding profusely, but the gun still could not discharge bullets,” the student said.
After the failed attempts at eliminating their target, the attackers made their escape, leaving the lucky student in a pool of his own blood. A classmate of the victim revealed that the attack was the second in the space of a week.
"When they arrived in our class, they brought out a gun and ordered everyone to lie down. After a while, they ordered us to raise our faces and looked around.
"When they discovered that the person they were looking for was not in the class, they left."
Students blame the ineffective campus security, adding that Man O’ War cadets deployed after the Monday attack harassed them.
However, IMT's Director of Public Relations, Dr Ifeanyi Ojobo , said he is unaware of such occurrences.
“I was on campus till the evening on that day and I never heard of such cult attack," he reportedly said.
lets recall that a similar cultist attacked claimed four lives » at Alvan Ikoku University of Education, Owerri, in neighbouring Imo state.
