American runner loses bronze medal after celebrating too early.
An American distance runner lost a bronze medal after one of those all-too-common cringe worthy moments in track events: She celebrated too early.
Molly Huddle lost to fellow American Emily Infield in the 10,000 meter race at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing on Monday — a moment she said was “painful to watch.”
“Emily slipped on the inside as I eased up a little bit. She had this once-in-a-lifetime moment. I feel like it kind of slipped through my fingers. … The Olympics are typically a hard race, not a tactical one, so this probably won’t ever come around again.”
